The Advantages and Value of Buying a G-Pop Shop CHRA vs. Turbo Rebuild Kit:
- A CHRA comes to you fully assembled and fully balanced for quick and easy installation – nothing to rebuild.
- Since a CHRA is fully balanced from the factory, you solve any concerns about balance that are associated with rebuilding your turbo with a kit.
- With a new CHRA, you alleviate any “out of spec” issues that rebuilding a used turbo can present. Installing a new CHRA bridges the gap that lack of access to spec’s and tolerances can present in doing a rebuild with a kit. It also solves any issues you might have with access to the right tools and/or limited mechanical experience.
- Installing a new CHRA basically gets you a new turbo. Since there are very few issues with the end housings, and yes on many applications there is the condition of the wastegate actuator to consider, but in most cases it too is re-usable without issue. If there is a problem with the actuator, most can be repair or replaced.
If purchasing a new, OEM-spec CHRA fits in your budget, you can confidently install one. This will allow you to get up and going quickly, and reduce your down time. You will avoid the greater risks associated with doing your own rebuild with a kit, especially if your mechanical experience is limited.
